Tuesday, May 18th - NAPM-Akron Past Presidents' Night

*****************

We will be recognizing past presidents at our dinner on 5/18.  How well do you know your past presidents?  Here is a quiz for you.   Who am I?   "Since December 1st I have read 20+ books, mostly junk fiction.  I have been able to return to golf after a 10-15 year hiatus and am trying out new clubs.  When I retired I fully expected that turning in my BlackBerry and Laptop would be the hardest thing to deal with; but it really wasn't.  It took about 3-5 days to realize nobody was emailing/calling me anyhow and I didn't need any of the software tools to develop their answers."  Who am I?  (Hint - not Abraham Lincoln!)

Answer in the next newsletter!

Is Tuesday, May 18th on your calendar?   Of course it is, but we have 3 (yes three!) great ways for you to spend the day and evening.  Read on!

************

FIRST, NAPM-Akron is a supporter of the Greater Akron Supplier Diversity Conference, which will take place at The University of Akron's Quaker Station from 8 am - 4 pm.  You can earn valuable CEH credits by attending all or part of this event.   The cost is only $25.   There are two morning workshops, two afternoon workshops, and Mayor Plusquellic as a keynote lunch speaker.  NAPM-Akron will be providing forms at the registration table to be used for certification hours.   Pre-registration is required.  To register, or if you have questions about the event, please to go the website:

                           www.summahealth.org/akron-supplier-diversity

SECOND, NAPM-Akron is sponsoring a tour of InfoCision Stadium on The University of Akron campus at 4 pm.  Newly opened for the 2009 football season, the stadium is a great addition to The University of Akron campus.

THIRD,  please join us for dinner at The Barley House, 222 S. Main Street, in downtown Akron at 5 pm.  Come for drinks, appetizers, and/or dinner (pay on your own.)  Spend some time with friends, colleagues, and past presidents before we part ways for the summer.

If you are interested in attending the stadium tour and/or dinner at the Barley House, please RSVP to Barb Osyk   at bao@uakron.edu  by Wednesday 5/12.  Note the earlier deadline is needed so that enough tour guides can be provided for the stadium tour.  Indicate in your response whether you are attending the tour, the dinner, or both.  Stadium parking information and directions on where to meet will be provided to those that register for the tour.   There is NO COST for the tour.

The Board of NAPM-Akron thanks you for your support of our programs over the past year.  We hope to see you somewhere (or everywhere!)  in Akron on May 18th!

And finally, a farewell from our soon to be Past President.................

 Dear NAPM-Akron members,

I am completing my last year as President.  After three years, it is time for others to take the lead.  When I became President, I set several objectives for myself.  With the help of the Board, I have accomplished them.

The Board - I cannot say enough about the terrific people who are serving on it now and served on it and had to move on during my "term".  They are a fantastic group with dynamic ideas:

Jack Antalek
Steve Asseff
Tony Bachmann
Terri Braun
Gary Dellosa
Wendy Davis
Frank Dimauro
Barbara Osyk
Amy Tannert
Bill Thompson

I would also like to recognize Pat Tebelak for helping Terri check everyone in at the meetings.  To some it might have seemed a small thing but to Terri it was a big help.

When I was asked if I wanted to put a farewell message in the Newsletter, I was sad.  However, a few tears and tissues later, it came to me that I was not leaving just stepping back. I will still be attending meetings and seeing the friends that I have made.
